POETRY eVENT (and WIND)

My commentary in November 2018
 
The use of letters and graphic signs was a constant in what I did. As an image or as a title and often my untitle implies some level of significance.
 
What has drawn a lot of attention is the version S8, 1975, of POESIA eVENTO.
The first version was made in Geneve, at Jean Otth's home, in VT which was lost. With ashes from the fireplace of the night before, in a snowy morning, I wrote the phrase POESIA eVENTO on the snow and recorded it until the wind made it disappear.
Back in São Paulo I wanted to repeat the thing on a street rug, like those from Corpus Christi festival, but the priest responsible for the party asked me not to do it because the intention was to collect sacred metaphors
I lost the model that I presented with the charcoal on sand image. It was a shame because I intended to repeat the Swiss experience filming the model
I ended up doing the S8 with meticulously planned studio designs. I had music composed by Victor Flusser who conducted the Choir of ECA USP, University of São Paulo. School of Art and Communication.
 
In addition to the S8 there is a slide version, bound in a handmade album, along with Operador, another slide piece.
A version painted on glass did not work very well at the time and redid it later with vinyl cutout.
